Welcome fellow motorcycle campers and future motorcycle campers!
We have a new look and we are going through some major upgrades and overhauls. Please please please, share your motorcycle camping stories and photos. If you need any help at all, please don't hesitate to contact me using the Contact Us link at the top.
One of my favorite things to do is load up the motorcycle (currently a Yamaha 1300 Tourer) and head out for the weekend or longer for a camping trip.
I had gone on weekend camping trips, but last June 2007 was my first long trip. A couple friends and I headed from Kansas City to Yellowstone for a 2 week journey that I will not soon forget. In fact, I found a new love for something I enjoyed doing... riding my motorcycle and camping. A sort of marriage of hobbies if you will. :)
In 2008, we are headed to the Grand Canyon... a round trip totaling about 3400 miles. I've been looking forward to this trip since I got home from my Yellowstone camping trip.
I learned quite a few things in on the Yellowstone trip, and it helped a ton on my motorcycle camping trip to the Grand Canyon. Still, you never know everything, and everyone has tips and tricks to share.
By day, I am a system administrator in the information technology field. Thus my enthusiasm for building a website where motorcyclists could discuss my new found hobby... in hopes that we all can learn from each other and share stories from the campsite.

Hi Everyone!
I've spent some time lately trying to decide what direction I want to go as far as shelter is concerned.
Currently I use a 2 person eureka tent. Don't get me wrong, it does a wonderful job, but I keep seeing reviews on the comfort provided by a hammock shelter. Specifically, I have been researching the Hennessy hammock and the Clark Jungle Hammock.

I am leaning towards the Hennessy simply because I tend to sleep on my stomach and my side... and it seems that the Hennessy Hammock doesn't cocoon as much as the Jungle Hammock does. I'd also like to note that the Hennessy seems to do better when trees aren't available as a tent.
Anyone have any experience with these hammocks? The quality of sleep seems to be 10 times what the sleep quality is in a tent.

Hi everyone,
Thought I'd throw a question I've had for while out here and see if I can get an answer.
At the campsite, I use a multi fuel stove for food preparation (Coleman, gasoline, kerosene, etc). I am wondering if a compact duel fuel lantern is available out there somewhere or what you would recommend.
Generally, I do not carry propane canisters with me. While on the move, it is much easier to throw some gas in my stove fuel tank while filling up my motorcycle... would like the same option for a lantern in compact form.
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone...
Many of the members here were in a locked out status... those accounts have been released as the website is not safe and secure. Unfortunately, we lost some photos in the migration, so I will be spending some time getting the old entries cleaned up and some new photos posted.
Currently I run 1300tourer.com and have grown that website substantially over the past few years... and growing motorcyclecamping.org is long overdue.
Thank you to everyone who is still checking in... be sure to post some photos, and share your stories. If you haven't already, please create your free account. It'll give you access to all of the features here.
When I have more updates, I'll get them posted. I still have some cosmetic work... gotta make our new campground pretty. ;)
Happy camping everyone!

Hi Everyone,
motorcyclecamping.org is about to get a makeover. I know recently there have been some security issues, and I've had to turn down the automatic approval of new accounts, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I am working on a revamp plan for the Motorcycle Camping website. Please bear with us over the next few days as we work on executing that plan.
Ride safe everyone!
